Christmas Ornaments

Besides her interest in decorated eggs, Ramute had a tremendous fondness for Lithuanian Christmas ornaments. Original Lithuanian Christmas ornaments were made from the rye straw. In Chicago, Ramute grew her own rye, in her backyard, in order to make the highest quality original ornaments. The image of the Christmas tree (fully decorated with Ramute’s handmade ornaments) is from her apartment in Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1975.
